For those of you who are curious, I thought I'd do a little write up about this hobby and myself.
My name is Kathleen and I started to dabble in this during the summer of 2012 and then discovered a whole world of nail art online and have been obsessed with it ever since. I am not a professional nail artist and have no formal art training other then what I learned in school up to a grade nine art class (which was a long, long time ago haha). You know, the funny thing is when I took art as a child in school my
teachers often complained that I drew things too small and didn't use up
all the paper. So, really I couldn't find a better hobby. (haha) I did do a little nail art when I was a teenager, back in the 80's, just simple designs nothing elaborate.
I am so happy I found this hobby, because I love it. I love creating different looks and colour combinations. I love to challenge myself to see if I can actually make art that looks good. I am genuinely surprised when I do.
I think this is a great art form for me, as it is inexpensive and I can practice this without needing to take classes. I just jump in and create. I don't have all the fancy brushes and tools, yet, maybe some day. I just use what I find around the house, mostly toothpicks. It's fun and I get totally absorbed into it.
I decided to start this blog in November 2012 to share my ideas and love of this hobby with others. I get truly blown away by some of the amazing artwork other people are able to do on their nails (see: Favourites) and although I am nowhere near their class of artist, I still love doing this hobby and hope I can inspire others to give it a try.
Update June 16, 2013: I now have some great tools to help me do this hobby and what a huge difference it makes to have the nail art brushes especially.
